清光绪十年（1884年）吉林省铸币。正面中央方栏内铸俊秀整齐的篆书体“光绪十年吉林机器官局监制”字样，外围铸双龙戏“寿”字及“蝙蝠”图案。背面中央方栏内铸汉文币值“厂平壹两”，外铸**币值与云龙纹。正、背面圆环各有50颗小圆圈内齿，意为小龙头加身。背面云纹实际为4条团龙。The Mint of Jilin Province in Guangxu Decade of Qing Dynasty (1884). On the front side, a handsome and neat seal script "Guangxu Decade of Jilin Machinery Bureau Supervision" is cast in the central column, while on the outside, the characters of "Shou" and "Bat" in Shuanglong Opera are cast. In the central square bar on the back, the value of Chinese coins is "one-two factory level", while the value of ** coins and the cloud dragon pattern are cast outside. The front and back rings have 50 inner teeth of each small circle, which means that the small faucet is added to the body. The moire on the back is actually four Tuanlong.
该币目前被世间“公认”为大清最早被认证(奉批核可)之机制币，传为慈禧太后五十岁大寿而专铸之祝寿币。光绪十年（1884），吉林将*希元向朝廷奏报，从*饷中提取白银五千两，交机器局制造面值为壹两、七钱、五钱、三钱、一钱等以两为单位的五种面值银币。满语中“吉林”即“船厂”之意，当地衡法习用厂平，故此套银两币俗称“吉林厂平银币”，据云图案与文字皆为吴大澄手笔。 吉林厂平银币虽由机器官局铸造，但并非使用近代造币设备，仍属银饼性质。因厂平实重仅库平之九五称，不合民间使用习惯，面世不久便被废止，传世极罕。 此套纪重银币是中国第一套机制银元，在中国造币史上具有划时代意义，因此，也成为中国近代机制银币中著名的大珍品，每种面值均极为珍罕。早在上个世纪三十年代，已是钱币收藏家梦寐以求争相追寻的顶级珍品，大收藏家李伟先、施嘉乾、耿爱德均对该币情有独钟，因为该币不仅是书法家吴大征所书字体的秀美，尤其重要的是该币由中国自行设计，自行雕模，并采用自己的造币土机器压制的第一枚官方机制银币，就此诞生的机制银币，不愧为是中国近代机制银币的开山鼻祖，该币名符其实的改变了中国货币制造，自古以来沿用了几千年的浇铸工艺，及银子称量计重支付的落后状况，而且具有中国货币史上划时代的里程碑地位。
